Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan himself laid Jama Masjid’s foundation stone on a Friday of October 1650 AD. With the construction beginning immediately and completing in 1656 AD.

Jama Masjid, Delhi was the result of the efforts of over 6,000 workers, for six years (1650–1656 AD). The cost of the construction in those times was estimated to be 1 million Rupees.
