Tel Aviv may be a small city but it is filled with wonderful delights. This is a city with a rich history and culture, evidence of which you will find all around. So if you’re planning to visit the city, here are some suggestions for things you must do when in Tel Aviv:
5 Things You Must Do When in Tel Aviv
Visit Old Jaffa
This ancient port city is associated with the biblical stories of Jonah, Solomon, and Saint Peter. It was conquered by the Ottomans in the 16th century, and traces of that part of the city’s history still remain in the Clock Tower and St Peter’s Church.
Of course, some modern amenities can also be found here like the Goor Museum and its showcase of Israeli and international art. Jaffa is also known for its oranges, so make sure to see the suspended orange tree installment.

Walk the City
One of the best ways to explore the city is to have a bit of a stroll. With the history and culture of Tel Aviv, why wouldn’t you want to take everything in very slowly? While you can participate in tours with English-speaking guides – offered for free, by the way – you can always opt to go on a self-guided tour. You can even choose a theme for a particular day: Bauhaus architecture one day and archaeological sites the next.
Explore the beaches
Tel Aviv sits in the Mediterranean coastline of Israel and boasts of world-famous beaches. It receives a lot of tourists each year, but there’s still ways for you to enjoy the sites.
Other than going for a dip, walking is another activity that allows you take in the wonder that is the city’s coastline. The promenade is where you want to do your exploring as it offers access to cafes and the beach. Also, the sunsets here are amazing so make sure to save a spot.
Try the Dining Options in Neve Tzedek
Built to address the overcrowding in Jaffa, this neighborhood is not only home to Bauhaus-style houses but it’s where you’ll find refined dining options. Other than that, you’ll also find many art galleries and if you make it all the way to the southern edge you’ll find the Ha Tachana, a historic train station.
Go to Hayarkon Park
This green oasis is an ideal destination if you’re bringing along the family. There are some fun activities to do here as a group: wall climbing, basketball, and biking. You can even have a picnic by the river if you like.
There is so much to enjoy in Tel Aviv and the five activities listed above are just a taste of what you can do in the city.
The Tel Aviv nightlife is pretty interesting too so if you’re interested, one of the best places to be is at the Great Synagogue on Allenby Street. And if you’d like to hear music playing all the time, then Habima Square is the place to be – it’s quite pretty as well.
